What the Disney Photography Policy Update Means for Engagement & Family Sessions

The recent Disney photography policy update has brought questions from many couples and families planning engagement and family photo sessions during their Disney vacations. Disney is more than a destination for many people. It represents memories, celebration, and meaningful time together. As photographers who have captured Disney Fairy Tale Weddings and family milestones for many clients, Disney will always hold a special place in our hearts and in our work.

Disney recently clarified its policies regarding third-party photography on its properties. Many couples and families have asked us, “Can we still take engagement or family photos at Disney World?” The answer is no, we cannot. Engagement and family portrait sessions that are no longer permitted inside Disney theme parks, Properties or Disney-owned resorts. We respect this decision. Disney properties are private spaces, and their goal is to protect the guest experience.

The good news is that this change does not affect Disney Fairy Tale Weddings, wedding day coverage, dessert parties, or official wedding events. We remain grateful to continue photographing Disney weddings and celebrating alongside our couples.

Our Complimentary Engagement Session for Disney Couples Continuing the Experience

One of the things that has always been important to us at Bella Grey is the connection we build with our couples before the wedding day. Because of this, our wedding collections include a complimentary engagement session. With the recent Disney photography policy update, we want our Disney couples to know that we have no intention of taking this experience away.

Instead, we are simply adapting how we continue to include it.

Our goal remains the same. We want to spend time together before your wedding day, help you feel comfortable in front of the camera, and create beautiful images that reflect your relationship in a relaxed and meaningful way. While engagement sessions can no longer take place inside Disney theme parks, Disney Property or Disney-owned resorts we have carefully chosen alternative locations that still feel magical, romantic, and uniquely Orlando.

One of our favorite options is one of our partner resorts located just minutes from Disney property. These locations offer elegant surroundings, tropical, and a peaceful atmosphere while keeping you close to where you are staying.

Another favorite is Celebration, a community originally developed by Disney. Celebration offers charming streets, waterfront views, and a timeless atmosphere that many couples describe as feeling like stepping into a storybook. It carries a sense of Disney charm while allowing us the flexibility to create a more intimate experience.

For couples who love something a little different, Winter Garden offers a quaint small-town setting with a warm, welcoming feel reminiscent of a Hallmark movie. The historic downtown, brick streets, and soft evening light create a romantic and relaxed environment that photographs beautifully.

We also offer nature-inspired location at a close by State Park, for couples who love a softer, organic look. These sessions feature open spaces, natural textures, and a dry grass aesthetic that feels timeless and editorial while keeping the focus on your connection.

No matter which location you choose, our intention remains unchanged. We want your engagement session to feel special, personal, and enjoyable, and to continue giving our Disney couples the full Bella Grey experience they were originally excited about.

Many of our clients still choose to stay at Disney resorts during their visit, and we want this experience to feel effortless from beginning to end.
