Orlando, Florida, and Destination Wedding and Portrait Photography
Bella Grey Photography started as a dream in 2017 and it is based out of Orlando, Florida.
Now this is a story all about how we started Bella Grey Studios ( formerly Bella Grey Photography)
I Andrea, come from a very creative family—my father has been painting beautiful oil art since I was a baby. I grew up in Chile, and I still remember my father selling his work to businesses and on the street. While art has always been in our family, I never knew I had a creative bone until I reevaluated my life many years later.
I attended college in New York and worked full-time as a student. I worked for a Fortune 500 company, which launched a very busy career. I often worked over 60 hours a week and quickly moved up within the industry. While still in college, I received a promotion that allowed me to move out of state with only one class left to graduate with my bachelor’s degree and married my college sweetheart. Despite already having an associate’s degree and just one class left to complete my bachelor’s, I took the job and put my education on hold. I got very busy and did well in my career for a total of 16 years. When the financial market crashed, I found myself laid off with extensive experience in the banking industry.
During this time, we struggled with infertility, which was very hard and draining. For years, I tried every fertility treatment, but nothing worked. After several failed IVF attempts, I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. This news brought deep depression and eventually led to the end of my first marriage. I always saw myself with children, and this was extremely upsetting. I asked myself, “Why me?” I had lost my career, found out I was infertile, and faced a failed marriage. I was in a very sad place.
While divorcing, I decided to move away and spend some time alone to reevaluate my life. I gave myself a year and a half to get to know myself and live a little. During this time, I grew closer to God. I still remember one day, begging on my knees and asking Jesus, “Why me?” I cried so hard, but the next morning, I went to church and felt a relief like never before.
It was during this time of reevaluation that I met my now husband and found myself pregnant. It was a miracle, as the doctors said. I was so scared and happy. I was scared that I could lose this happiness. At that moment, I knew I couldn’t go back to the corporate world of 60-plus hours and needed a career change. I believed God had more in store for me and realized that the stress of working so many hours had something to do with my infertility. I was determined to look forward. When we got pregnant, I promised God that I would cherish every moment of this baby in my belly. I wanted to capture everything because I was so scared of losing it.
My husband bought me a camera, and I began capturing many moments. When Bella was born after 42 weeks, she was born to be my model. I took so many pictures of her, and I realized at that moment that photography was my passion. I knew my calling was to capture moments for people with the eye of a mom, a daughter, and a wife. I wanted to create images that couples could look back on and feel as if they were there.
I remember visiting my mother’s house or family members’ homes and opening up photo albums, feeling the joy and nostalgia of those memories. I wanted to bring that feeling to every single couple and family member. I dedicated myself to learning photography and used all my entrepreneurial experience to master the business side.
While doing this, I learned I was pregnant with my second child. Brain fog was a thing, but my husband, while working a full-time job, learned the technical side of photography and taught me hands-on. Together, we mastered photography, attended numerous workshops with the best in the industry, and continued to learn from other photographers.
In a short time, we built a six-figure business that continues to grow. We now provide opportunities for other photographers, content creators, videographers, and even wedding coordinators, all part of Bella Grey. We are extremely grateful for the love and support we’ve received from our community.
I hope to inspire other mothers who wish to stay home with their kids while still having a successful career. Even when you feel lost, you can always find yourself and a supportive community. I was lucky enough to find amazing mothers who encouraged and inspired me, and I will forever be grateful for them.
When I started loving photography, I found a photographer who walked me through the steps she went through. She was a single mother who built an amazing business, and she continues to inspire me. It can be done, and I hope this inspires some women.
Amidst running the business, being a wife, and being a mom, I decided to finally finish my degree. Because I waited so long, the curriculum had changed, and it turned into a two-year program. I now proudly hold a bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity and an associate’s degree in business management and marketing.
My journey from hardship to happiness, combined with my passion and talent, makes me a true believer that you can achieve your dreams. I hope my story inspires others to find what they love and work hard for it.
